New Credit Scheme of GOI

EXIM bank in collaboration with the Export Credit Guarantee Corporation of India (ECGC) has launched its latest initiative to facilitate and extend credit facility to sovereign governments and government owned entities for import of goods and services from India. The buyer’s incentive scheme is geared toward extending buyer’s credit through EXIM bank of India to countries in Latin America and the Caribbean region. Buyer’s credit provides a safe mode of non-recourse financing options to Indian exporters and will be used as a medium for easy and effective market access.


Benefits include:

  • Long term buyer’s credit to foreign government/government owned companies
  • Credit could be offered to export projects in various business sectors
  • Credit would be backed by sovereign guarantee
  • Insurance coverage for high risk projects not backed by ECGC
  • Interest differential will be borne by Indian exporter
  • Indian exporter would pay premium to EXIM bank
